A wood floor in the bathroom? Sure – HARO Parquet Spa!

HARO feature report – Wood floors in bathrooms? Sure – HARO Parquet Spa!

As a natural and wonderfully warm material, wood is the ideal basis for all barefoot areas. In addition, combining cool natural materials, like ceramic and stone, with the warmth of wood creates a perfect and highly trendy contrast. With HARO Parquet Spa, Hamberger Flooring features a specially developed floor for bathrooms, offering completely new design possibilities. The range comes in a choice of four wood species that brave the humid conditions. Merbau, Oak, Smoked Oak and African Oak provide an enhanced moisture resistance due to their low shrinkage and swelling potential.

The slender HARO Parquet Spa floor boards are supplied factory prefinished with a high-quality natural oil. To optimally prepare the new floor for the special requirements of bathrooms and wellness areas, a few basic rules must be followed: Spa parquet has to be glued to the subfloor by a professional installer and sealed with permanently flexible joint filler around perimeter. The new parquet floor can also be laid over underfloor heating and is oil-finished directly on site right after installation. Oil-finishing is performed with “Spa Oil natura”, which the installer applies in two coats. The oil is absorbed into the wood pores without preventing the wood's ability to breathe. This intense surface treatment is extremely valuable because it optimally protects the floor against moisture penetration. As well prepared as the floor is, standing water or prolonged exposure to excessive air humidity in the room (above 70 percent) should be avoided nevertheless. It is therefore essential to wipe up puddles and air the room regularly! Depending on the level of use and the condition of the floor surface, the floor should be reoiled from time to time.
